BTW, do we have a date for this year's ballon festival? Or did I just totally miss that in another post?

Subject: [Mistyhighlandslist] A few thoughts on the balloon festival demo.
These are in no particular order...just random things that came to my mind.
1) The festival runs from Thurs. evening (night glow) to Sunday late afternoon. Would we want to try to do the festival from Fri-Sun? Or just one day?
2) Whatever day(s) we decide, we would probably need to be there fairly early in the AM and ready to go. First launch is scheduled to go up around 7:30am (unless there is fog). People would be milling around the fair grounds after the launch.
3) Kids day is usually Friday mid morning through the afternoon. There is an area for educational presentations to be made. We could do some really interesting stuff for the kids at that time.
4) For the past two years, there has been another small group of people doing pre 1840 re-enactment. Don't know if they are Buckskinners or Rendezvous (sp?). They come with a pavilion with period set up inside. Last year, they also had some archery and ax throwing. Looked like a good set up. I think they just stayed on site the entire weekend (had a wood stove burning in the tent).
5) We could get it in the Aestel for Saturday with the site fee being the admission to the festival. ($5/per person with a $15/car cap). We would not make money (but wouldn't have any cash outlay either), but might get some people. Could be a KC type demo with the right planning.
6) Since we have several people with various types of period pavilions, we could set up different "camps" next to each other. Would be nice to see the vikings, marquees, rounds, and bell wedges next to each other with various heraldry flying.
What are some other's thoughts? I'm of the opinion that if we decide to do this, it will be highly labor intensive, but worth the effort.

Well, if we do this in October, I don't suppose we should do a Mall demo for at least a month prior or following. December seems like it would be dicey. Suggestions?
The KC demo is in February? Or is it in late January?
Of course we can't "settle this" on the list, but it'll be nice to have these mostly ironed-out before the next meeting.
