[Mistyhighlandslist] FW: Changes to armored combat regs

Based on the description I heard at the meeting, it should be no issue
whatsoever. As near as I can recall, the shields are just thin layers of
wood epoxied together into the correct shape. I believe that is the most
period way of making the shields, in any case. I recall reading in at least
one location that something like that was the method often used. I'll see
if I can't document that for you, if anyone cares.
I believe that this is mostly aimed at some of the "new technology" shields
that I've read of on armourarchive.org. These shields are wood-core, but
covered with a plastic layer to remove the need for edging and to make
heraldic designs last longer.
